INITIAL EXAM VISIT

As a courtesy to our patients, the initial examination is free of charge. Upon your arrival, our treatment coordinator will begin making you acquainted with our office. Dr. Walker or Dr. Dixon will then conduct a thorough clinical examination and go over the findings with you. The purpose of the initial examination is to answer:

  1. What sort of problem is present, if any?
  2. When is the proper time for treatment?
  3. What type of treatment is indicated?
  4. How long will treatment take?
  5. How much will the treatment cost?

Dr. Walker and Dr. Dixon make every effort to ensure that your first visit is as informative as possible.

DIAGNOSTIC RECORDS

If Dr. Walker or Dr. Dixon has recommended orthodontic treatment, then diagnostic records will be indicated. The diagnostic records include two radiographs (x-rays), digital images of the teeth and face, and study models of the teeth. This provides us with information that is not available from a clinical exam and allows us to study the case in more detail. Proper diagnosis is critical to the success of the case. In most instances, the diagnostic records may be taken at the initial exam visit.

TREATMENT PLANNING SESSION

After the doctors have reviewed the findings of the clinical examination and diagnostic records, a treatment plan for the patient will be formulated. The proposed treatment options, length of treatment, and the cost will be discussed in detail.

REGULAR APPOINTMENTS

The initial appliance placement usually takes from 1 to 2 hours. Regular adjustment appointments are every 6 to 8 weeks and often take 20 to 40 minutes. Our regular office hours are Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 6 PM. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. We recommend canceling only in an emergency situation to avoid difficulty in rescheduling.
